Dust control program information

• Applications and payment must be received by May 15. No applications will be accepted after this deadline.
• Dust control strips for businesses or for businesses paying for residential strips will be charged the full rate without subsidy; to apply, contact Road Operations at 780-979-6185.
• Dust control strips shall be a minimum of 122 metres (400 feet) and a maximum length of 366 metres (1200 feet). Requests greater than 122 metres of roadway surface shall be subject to the discretion of the Director, Road Operations or their designate.
• Two applications of calcium chloride will be completed for each approved residence application. The second application will be automatically applied six to eight weeks after the first application (weather permitting); therefore, residents do not need to call to request the second application.
• The top-shoot dust control product used is only a temporary solution to the dust problem and is intended to be effective for one season only.
• Scheduling of the work shall be subject to regular dust control program priorities and shall be combined with other requests in the same geographical area to maximize cost effectiveness.

Placement information

To help ensure correct placement of the dust control product, stakes should be placed at the side of the road, identifying the start and end of the strip; otherwise the information below will be used as the correct location in the event of a discrepancy.

I/We, the undersigned, hereby make application for a calcium chloride top-shoot dust control strip to be applied by the Leduc County Road Operations department to the municipal roadway adjacent to my/our residence at the location described above. I/We hereby have read, understand, and agree to the following:

• Calcium chloride may cause damage to grass and trees, Leduc County will not assume responsibility for any leaching, and/or damage to trees and grass adjacent to the calcium treated roadway;
• It is imperative that regular and ongoing maintenance work continues on our gravel roads to preserve the road base in a smooth and safe condition for the travelling public. Accordingly, maintenance of the treated portion of the road will be consistent with other county roads. A grader will be used to level and fill in ruts, washboard or potholes when required. Typically, all gravel roads will be re-graveled every two to four years. Therefore, the dust control strip may be graveled over during the regular program to ensure safety and integrity of the road surface;
• It must be stressed that Leduc County retains full ownership of and responsibility for the maintenance of roads under Leduc County jurisdiction. Your contribution to the top-shoot dust control strip in no way constitutes a permanent right of any kind.
